2. Vatican Museum
Take a walk in a room like the Gallery of Cards with its golden vaulted ceiling. Raphael Rooms is drawn by Renaissance artist Raphael. The impressive Sistine Chapel, along with Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam and the Last Judgement, was considered the Pope’s private chapel. Early Access tours show that the gallery is much quieter than later in the day.
3. Sistine Chapel
Meet and greet a guide across from the entrance to the Vatican Museums, a collection of galleries displaying classic and Renaissance masterpieces, including frescoes from the Sistine Chapel. Enter through the reservation door without waiting. This access is even faster than the preferred line. Once inside, follow your guide as there are over 2,000 rooms and 9 miles of art. The guide will highlight and explain the story behind each piece. Due to the nature of the small groups on the tour, you can always be close to your guide, but headsets are provided so that you can always hear the commentary clearly.
4. St Peters Basilica
Finally, we conclude with a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church ever built and one of the most sacred and most important places in Christianity. Get an overview of its long history from your guide and take a closer look at one of Michelangelo’s early sculptures, Pieta. After being crucified, the body of Jesus is depicted on the lap of her mother Maria. Your tour ends at the cathedral. After exploring in a group, you can stay as long as you like. It’s the perfect time to get down to the basement, climb to the top of St. Peter’s Basilica (at your own expense), and enjoy spectacular views of Rome.
